I was out today trying to dicker with prices. I have dealt with this dealership for 14years now. (JD 855 was my first purchase in 86' 2nd purchase was a JD 4200HST purchased in1999) So he is known to be the biggest and most prominent New Hampshire dealer. (NO SALES TAX IN NH) And the price I keep getting on a 4300 / HST / 430Loader / Calcium Loaded Turf Tires / Folding Rops / and #272 Rear Finish Mower.... $26,500 !!!!! (Oh! And that price includes me keeping my 73" HeavyDuty Bucket from my 4200. I have nice welded on hooks on my 73" HD bucket and that is why I want to keep that... Now, I told him that was High, he got the owner out, and they are telling me that they add "SETUP COST" on top of the list price. And that is why they are wanting $26,500 for the tractor. I called a smaller New Hampshire Dealer and he gave me a price of $22,000 totalfor the same machine with #272 rear mower deck. I showed the big dealer my quotes and he went thru the roof and !<br>still wouldn't come down on price. And the owner at the bigger dealership acted all mad at the otherdealer, like he was breaking the Brotherhood Code of Dealing John Deere Tractors. (or made him out to be likehe deals grey-black market tractors) And the bigger Dealer kept giving me the line about getting it serviced at the other dealership? I have talked to a few other people who are very happy with the smaller dealership inservice. And the other smaller dealer is fully authorized. And the Big dealer only wanted to give me $17,000 for trade in value on my previous 4200 HST / 420 Loader / 72" Belly Mower / Loaded Turf Tires / New Axle / 300 hours. It is in great shape, but just wanted to upgrade to a little bigger machine,(not satisfied with HP on 4200 HST) and no longer wanted to have the belly mower.. I want more clearance under the machine. What should I be getting for a deal here in New Hampshire for the 4300 Hydro Package I want? And is this setup chargeon top of!<br> list price a bunch of Bull or what?????

I have a JOHN DEERE 4200HST, and it has the 420 LOADER, w/6 Heavy Duty Bucket,and also have a 72

So basically I have a very heavy machine. I do have to say it works great
for Loader work in both A + B range, but I do admit, B range is a litte to much for driving around on hills or rolling grade while dragging a belly mower or especially a rear rotary mower. But as far as Loader work goes, this machine

Without a doubt, I would do the 955 all the way. That is one of the best compact tractors John Deere ever made.

Mario,<br>What makes you think Kubota doesn't have engineering flaws? They have plenty! It is just the new 4000 series are new machines, and you are hearing about the different JD issues all at once. Don't think they the Kubotas don't have flaws, they have one huge flaw with me (as other already know who frequent this sight) and that is They don't have their Hydro pedals/Turn brakes set up right. I don't fall for any of these lame bullsh** excuses on using cruise control either to use your turn brakes! That is an un-excusable flaw! period! Some people would go as far as to say they use a stick to push on the turn brake while using hydro and that works for them! The other thing I don't like about the Kubota is the fact that loader lever is attached to the Loader frame. Bottom line is this, spend the extra cent you are whining about and get a machine that is hands down better than the Kubota. And yes JD has had problems with supply and demand, do you think that is because they make a bad machine? Nope, of course not, THEY ARE HOT ITEMS AND THEY ARE IN HEAVY DEMAND! Worth the extra wait, and worth the extra cent you are pinching..

The last I knew, they were all the same indicators for each of the different models. Not much to it, just take a Hack Saw and cut it on level ground if you need to.. pretty easy.. takes 5 minutes..

Pete,<br>I wouldn't let the guy with the bad 855 comment scare you off from Hydro. Like I said, I was very very happy with my 855, and I have never had a loader bog down while using Hydro.. Mine worked perfectly.. and Loader had 100% power while using the Hydro.. So take that comment with a grain of salt.. I'm sure it is a very rare condition. And My New 4200, has plenty of Hydro Power, Great Machine, and the steering now has its own Hydro Pump, so no power gets robbed while steering and using Hydro

Pete,<br>There is nothing fun about spending a day clutching on a gear tractor. However, if I were to go with a gear tractor, I would only go for one that has Sync Reverser or Power Reverser... (a throw of a lever, forward or reverse) But, Nothing compares to Hydrostatic Drive on a Compact utility Tractor.. Sounds like you definatly had a beat terramite on your hands.. You know what, I don't know if I blame your local dealer. I would feel pretty used at that point. (if the price difference is within reason) If that is the case, I say good for him, and let that be a lesson, it doesn't always pay to be a tightwad. (remember, I am assuming this difference in price is within reason) I would always rather support my local guy, and drive less distance for service. HERE IS AN EXAMPLE: I am so tired of people shopping for less at Wal-Marts etc.. trying to save a buck, considering the salesperson doesn't know anyting about the product.. then buy the product from Wal-Mart, then go use the guy with the small shop and pump him for info or service, who happens to be an expert on the subject.. Then when the big retailers leech out all of your small business, then who do you go to get educated, or serviced on these widgets.. WIDGET (A)=$10.00 + service 35 miles from home / WIDGET (B)=$11.00 service 5 miles from home, keep local guy happy.. local guy might make you happy doing something for you in return.. give you business too in your profession.. WELL IS SAY ITS A NO BRAINER! I don't blame your local guy in that case.. What goes around comes around!! GOOD FOR HIM~ truth is he probally doesn't want to do business with someone who is not going to be loyal to his excellent service he might provide.. especailly to a penny pincher.. (again, I am assuming that is the case, if his price was way,way, out of bounds and couldn't come down on price at all then don't hold any weight to this post)... thanks..

For just a little extra on the monthly payments, I would definatly go with the 4300. Unless money is the sole issue here. What the issue should be, is this is going to be a tractor that you might keep for over fifteen to twenty years, and you will want a machine that is comfortable. Which the 4000 series are. Superior Operating platform. Loader is by far easier to take on and off on the 4000 series. And the performance of the loader is great.. very fast & powerful hydraulics. The other tractor is just basically an economy tractor.. Resale Value, I would think would hold a lot more too with the Luxury tractor.. Just my thoughts though...

Hello, <br>I had the same exact problem, I have a large pond, and I don't take my John Deere 4200 that close to the rim of the pond. However, I bought a DR. TRIMMER MOWER, on wheels.. I am very happy with it. Does exactly what I hoped it would do. The Cords that do the cutting on this is so heavy duty, that I have only broke them a few times, and that is only when I am trimming around large sharp edged boulders. Replacing the cords is so easy on this machine.. it is just like tying a boat up to a dock, using a boat cleat. Just put the line in one hole and out thru another. very easy... I love it! Besides it is absolutly no effort at all pusing this machine around since it is on large bicycle style wheels. Good luck

All of what I have said, can be done better just the way I said. As far as warranty claims waiting to happen. It has never happened! Not in the 13 yrs having a Compact tractor. Maybe that is in your Kubota Manual. They mention those things for in manuals for liability purposes for inexperienced users. I personally don't think you even know what you are talking about when it comes to this subject. So don't throw your two cents worth in till you know what you are talking about. If you have never picked your front wheels up off the ground to do any kind of work at all to apply preasure etc. you are either a wimp with your tractor, because of inexperience or just lying to me for the sake of argument. <br>

I am a previous 855 owner, had it for twelve years.. other than hours it was still in great shape when I traded it. I now have a 4200 HST.. Here is my comparison of the Two models. Loader is by far superior on 4200, better built, easy on & off. Better Hydraulics. Better Lever. Seat is superior, huge improvement over 855, including the retractable seatbelts. Headlights are superior. Engine is superior (very quiet at low idles) Tilt Steering is Superior. Dashboard is superior. Parking brake is better. Fuse box is better. Sloped Hood is better.Hood is better for opening. Permanent grill guard is better. Size of physical machine is better. Cruise Control is better. Lift Capacities is better for both Loader & 3pt hitch. Now this is where the 855 gets the favorable edge on design.. MFWD Lever was more convenient. Single Lever was far better than that flimsy thing to operate the Mower with. PTO Lever was more convenient on Dashboard. PTO Selector was far better on the 55 series. Not only was the lever better, but you could choose all three funtions on the 55 series. Mid, Rear, Mid & Rear. Why they changed that I have no clue? I really do hate that flimsy Mower lever on my new tractor.. it is very cheap.. Rear Pto guard came with my 855. Should have made a heavier duty directional lever on 4200. I had my Uncle weld together some very nice

You are so right about that.. Exactly what you said about Wal-Mart is why I don't ever shop at Wal-Mart. I want quaulity!!! Not some cheap knock off I find at Wal-Mart. I hate everything about Wal-Mart. I support the guys that are disappearing.. the people, the Pros that can really help me, and sell me quaulity items.. I don't go for the White Trash Magnet named Wal-Mart. You are the first person I have ever seen sum up what I have been trying to say to people about skimping on price vs. quaulity.. I buy Macintosh Computers, why? Quaulity! they are superior machines to PC's that people tend to just put up with because they saved a few lousy hundred dollars. I buy John Deere, because I know I want a machine that is engineered and easier to use and work on than a Kubota..<br>thanks<br>Jason

When I first got my 855 twelve years ago, I wore it from time to time. And that was mostly on Loader work and Hilly areas. Then I started getting more and more cautious about using one everytime I get in my car. Then I would Sometimes get the urge to just buckle it up at some point in my day of mowing my lawn. Now I have my New John Deere 4200-HST Which is a much bigger tractor, and it is bulkier, and doesn't seem as Acrobatic as my 855 was.. so I wear my seatbelt everytime I get on my new one. I think a lot of it has to do with the new retractible seatbelts too.. they are always clean, and always fit. But, I just feel a little more awkwark on my new tractor because it really is a different feeling because I am so used to my older 855.. that I just feel so much safer wearing my seatbelt on my new 4200. And I know, that chances are, sooner or later something is going to happen.. and I am going to be glad that I became a constant seatbelt wearer in both vehicles & tractors. I think knowing Princess Diana's fatal accident really did help prgram that seatbelts save lives..

Ok, we forgive you. But your last posting here had many spelling errors. I find it kind of funny that as you are saying please proof read what you are posting.. you didn't proof read your last statement.. you too have many spelling & grammar errors... nobody is perfect.. I am definatly not perfect.. I don't care how people type.. and I don't care how they spell.. if they are trying their best, and learning something that eventually will become familiar with them.. then I give them credit.. and as long as they can get their point across to me, and everyone else, and possibly help me with a tractor situation.. Well, then that is all I think everybody else cares about.. I don't knock anybody who is trying their best at helping other people solve problems with their $25,000.00 or more Machines.. so we forgive you.. but just keep that in mind.. we are all here to help and post our opinions and answers.. but we are not here to offend.
